NEWAYGO, Mich. Newayago Police say that the two threats that were investigated on Wednesday are investigating the threat for the third day in a row.

“Then yesterday we had a situation that was deemed no threat. Then on Monday our position became that it was a letter. All those incidents have been handed over to the prosecutor,” said Newyago Police Chief Georgia Andres.

For most of the day on Wednesday, students at Newayago Public Schools were kept in “safe” mode. This came after verbal threats in middle school and reported social media posts in high school.

“Each one of these will be thoroughly investigated, and sent to the prosecutor’s office,” Andres said.

Parents are naturally fed up.

“They think it’s fun to joke about, weeks after the kids lost their lives at another high school. It just annoys me so much,” said Newyago parent Amber Heist.

The superintendent says that they are doing everything possible to stop this behaviour.

“The decisions they make in a moment have a lifelong impact. And they will be dealt with,” said Newego superintendent Jeff Wright.

Built-in threats have plagued countless West Michigan schools in New York.

OK2SAY, an anonymous reporting system for reporting students’ behavior, says they have received 10 months’ worth of suggestions in the last 7 days only.
