The European Movement looks for a new chair

After Andrew Adonis stepped down as chairman of the European Movement, which campaigns to rejoin the European Union, a plum job has become available for those remaining.

Adonis announced his resignation from the role last month, saying he wanted to devote more time to writing and other initiatives. The deputy chair, former Green MEP Molly Scott Cato, is currently serving as interim chair.

Now the movement is seeking a “dynamic and committed” individual to lead the organization – the largest cross-party, pro-European membership organization in the UK, with 200,000 supporters, over 100 branches and over 16,000 members.

The successful candidate, who will be elected by the membership rather than appointed, will effectively become the face of its step-by-step campaign towards rejoining the EU and help grow its membership, which it calls “the UK with”. describes as a “watershed period” for the relationship. Europe”.

For more information about the role – which is unpaid – anyone interested can email Emma Knaggs at emma.Knaggs@EuropeanMovement.co.uk. The last date for nomination is February 6.
