The constable tried to stop the truck near the outpost in Anand’s Borsad

A police constable was killed when he tried to stop and chase the vehicle near a checkpost in Anand’s Borsad town on Wednesday. Police have arrested the accused driver Gopiram Meena, who hails from Alwar, Rajasthan.

According to police, the incident took place at around 1:10 am when unarmed police constable Kiran Singh of Borsad police station was run over by a speeding trailer truck bearing Rajasthan registration number on a service road near Ashok Park area of ​​Borsad city.

Police said the constable had tried to chase the truck using a private four-wheeler after the truck did not stop at a check post.

“We were stationed at Borsad city police post to conduct regular checking of vehicles when we saw a speeding truck approaching from Vasad Chowkdi direction. Kiran Singh directed the truck to be parked on the side of the road for checking but the truck driver tried to run away from the checkpost. Kiran Singh then followed the truck in a private four wheeler and overtaken it on a service road near Ashok Park.

“Kiran Singh then came out of the car and signaled the truck to stop. However, the driver crushed him and fled towards Tarapur. We took the victim to Shri Krishna Hospital where he was admitted due to serious injury to his legs. During treatment at around 11.30 am on Wednesday, doctors declared him brought dead.

Anand Superintendent of Police Ajit Rajian said, “The driver of the trailer truck has been arrested and we have seized the vehicle.”
