The twelfth annual Jack Frost Challenge begins Sunday near the Nestaway River Trail.

The annual event, organized by the Green Action Center, promotes active and sustainable transportation.

“Getting people out is so important to contribute to a more sustainable Manitoba,” said Ariel Desrochers of the Green Action Centre.

“Get them excited to do activities in the winter, while at the same time reducing some of the emissions they might otherwise generate through car travel.”

Desrochers told Global News that people can sign a waiver and try out ice bikes and snow shoes for free.

Participants can sign up in teams of one to five and join up with friends, family and co-workers for some fun and friendly competition.

Additionally, children, classes and schools can register for the Kid-Friendly Challenge.

The challenge runs from Sunday to February 11th and People can still sign up and participate.

Desrochers encourages anyone who wants to sign up to do so soon so they can log their kilometres.
