A 17-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed to death by a group of teenagers and a local criminal after the victim abused the latter on Instagram. An FIR has been registered at Uttam Nagar police station and three juveniles have been arrested. Raids are on to nab others.
Police said the victim, Mohammad Shaukat, lived with his parents and three sisters. “The incident happened on Sunday evening when his friend informed his family that he was found unconscious. He was taken to DDU Hospital, where he was declared brought dead on arrival. Doctors told the police that he had eight wounds and was stabbed with ice cubes. Doctors also found injury marks on his face.
Victim’s sister told Indian Express That he worked in a factory and was on holiday on Sunday. “He left around 3 am to meet a friend but did not return. The accused kidnapped my brother from a local market and took him to a flat, where they killed him. We learned that he had posted a reel on Instagram in which he had abused a local criminal. They got angry at this and killed him.”
Additional DCP (Dwarka district) Vikram Singh said, “We registered an FIR, and conducted the post-mortem of the victim on Monday. Preliminary investigation revealed that he had posted a video on social media and had some heated arguments with the local people. On Sunday they picked him up and killed him. One of the accused is a local criminal of the area and a motion to arrest him is pending. We’re looking for him.”
On Monday afternoon, the family members of the victim gathered outside the police station and demanded strict action against the accused.
“We want the immediate arrest of all the accused, especially the local criminal and stringent punishment for all those involved,” the victim’s sister said.
During the investigation, the victim’s friends told the police that he would post the reel on Instagram and had recently uploaded a picture of the local criminal, which angered him.
“The local criminals started threatening him of dire consequences after coming to know about this. When a group of five-six teenagers abducted the victim from the market, her friend was present there.
