Taliban erupts in religion, power and girls’ schools

Kandahar, Afghanistan – Ministers in the Taliban government think the issue of girls’ education has been resolved. Schools for girls above the sixth grade were set to reopen last March, after months.

Then the Taliban’s religious council, dominated by ultra-conservative clerics, foiled the plan. Hours before the reopening of the school gates, it was announced that they will be closed, Girls coming to school in uniform were refused.
