The season’s first snow accumulation is coming to southeastern Wisconsin.

As residents prepare for another winter, hardware store managers are busy trying to stock their shelves with essential supplies.

“Salt I have so many palettes, I’ve got like 60 palettes currently,” said Steven Pratt, Meineke ACE hardware store manager. “Shovels, we haven’t seen any reduction in demand on that.”

He said some supplies are readily available for now, but larger items like snow blowers will be hard to come by.

“Whatever we have left we are going to get for the rest of the season,” Pratt told WISN 12 about Snow Blower. “Whenever they’re gone, they’re gone.”

Pratt said he could only place one order of 70 snow blowers for his four stores.

Under normal supply chain conditions, he said he makes multiple orders throughout the season.

This year he could only make one.

“ACE is currently out of everything, Toro, we can’t get anything out of Toro itself,” he explained. “So it’s a lot of supply chain (issues) that we can’t get to them.”

He said he expects salt, shovels and other items to remain in stock for now.

All those items are front and center in his store.

The Milwaukee Public Works Department did not comment on supply chain constraints, but said they are ready to expand salting operations when necessary.
