Sidhu Musewala murder case: One arrested for supplying arms to shooters, five booked

Ludhiana Police has claimed to have arrested a man who used his vehicle to supply arms for the murder of Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh alias. Sidhu Musewala Who was shot dead on 29 May in Mansa.

Police said he along with three of his accomplices had gone to a petrol pump on Bathinda’s Dabwali road, where some weapons were handed over to the ‘shooters’. A white colored Toyota Fortuner vehicle, which was used for supply of arms, a 315 bore pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from him.

Inspector Beant Juneja, in-charge of CIA Staff-2 of Ludhiana Police, told that the white fortuner with the registration number of Delhi belonged to Satbir Singh of Talwandi Rai Dadu village of Ajnala tehsil of Amritsar district. “Satbir Singh has been arrested,” the inspector said.

A case has also been registered against three accomplices who supplied arms with Satbir. identified as Mandeep Singh Police said Puran da Kotha, alias Toofan of Batala, Manpreet Singh alias Mani from Amritsar and an unidentified person – they are still absconding and planning to flee abroad, police said.

Ludhiana DCP (Investigation) Varinder Singh Brar said that during interrogation, Satbir told that after the murder of Moosewala, a Sandeep Singh Kahlon alias Sona of Fatehgarh Chudiyan supplied him a country-made pistol and cartridges (which have been recovered) and told him that “We have killed Moosewala. This weapon is to protect himself from Moosewala’s supporters.” Keep more cartridges with you. We will give you more arms and ammunition in the days to come.”

Police said Satbir Singh disclosed that Kahlon and another person, Ranjit Singh of Daudpur village, Fatehgarh Churian, Amritsar, told him that “in the coming days, we will spend Rs 10 lakh and get four passports made for you so that You can go abroad and no one can harm you.

DCP Brar said that Satbir was going from Amritsar to Ludhiana with his three companions when the police arrested him, while three others fled. Even before this, a FIR A case was registered against Satbir at Focal Point police station in Ludhiana for illegally supplying arms.

Police said that Satbir owns a stud farm and has 22-23 horses and came in contact with Kahlon as he also owns a stud farm. Kahlon is posted as Panchayat Secretary in Shri Hargobindpur of Gurdaspur district. Inspector Juneja said, “Both Kahlon and Ranjit Singh are currently absconding and their names have also been registered in the FIR.”

“A total of six people have been booked, out of which one Satbir Singh has been arrested,” the inspector said. He added that further details are being probed.

An FIR was registered against Satbir and others under Section 25/54/59 of the Arms Act at Salem Tabri police station.
