Shohei Ohtani Leads the Angels Over the Marlins and Makes History

Shohei Ohtani Allowed an unearned run in seven major innings and a chance to advance in the Los Angeles Angels’ 5-2 win over the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night.

The current AL MVP won his fifth consecutive start while limiting marlins To hit two. Ohtani (8-4) scored three runs and made 10 dismissals before 18,741, which is the fourth-largest crowd at Lonedipo Park this season.

“I didn’t change much, most importantly I made my own pitches when I needed to,” Ohtani said through a translator. “I think it’s huge when we’re winning and I’m pitching because I’m part of the ball club.”

“I’ve been able to go completely healthy, without worrying about my body,” Ohtani said. “It’s a huge part of why I’m pitching well.”

Ohtani’s two-RBI single chased down Miami starter Trevor Rogers (4-7) with a base load and took fifth for three runs angel 3-1 ahead.

“He’s one of the better weapons in baseball, and then you’re going to see him on the plate the same day as well,” Stacy said of Ohtani. “He’s a superstar pitcher and he’s a superstar hitter.”

Marlins: RHP Edward Cabrera (right elbow tendinitis) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday, with another scheduled for Thursday. … RHP Cody Potet (right elbow muscle injury) threw two innings in his rehab work with the Class-A Jupiters on Monday. His next appearance will be determined.
