New Delhi: Apple introduced AirTag in April last year so that users can track their items in case they are lost. The device has helped owners find their lost or stolen products ranging from AirPods to cars. However, in one untoward incident, someone used Apple AirTag to trace a woman without her knowledge for almost two hours. The incident happened on Saturday night around Disneyland California last month.

He said in his post that the happiest place on earth (Disneyland) could have turned into his worst nightmare. “The happiest place on earth could very easily turn into my worst nightmare,” she said in a tweet. The woman shared her experience on microblogging platform Twitter. As per her post, she realized that someone was tracking her after the AirTag was connected to her smartphone via Bluetooth. When the tag connected to his smartphone, he got a notification. It is not yet known where the stalker had kept the airtag. It was probably hidden in his bag or pocket. However, in recent incidents, airtags have mostly been used to trace stolen goods. For example, a person who lost his luggage on a wedding trip used the device with a PowerPoint presentation to retrieve his luggage. Elliot Sharrod was returning to the UK from South Africa with his bride Helen on April 17. The flight had halted in Abu Dhabi and Frankfurt.

In another incident, a Canadian man used an airtag to locate and recover his stolen Range Rover in Canada. He had installed three airtags in this second vehicle – one in the glovebox, one inside the spare tire, and the third under the rear seat – to make sure he tracks the lost car if it gets stolen.
