Phillies’ Bryce Harper has a broken thumb, vows to return this season

Bryce Harper, Philadelphia Phillies The star outfielder and current National League MVP had vowed to make a comeback this season after sustaining a left thumb injury last month.

Harper had three pins in his thumb after hitting the pitch San Diego Padres Pitcher Blake Snell who ruined his season.

“I’ll be back,” Harper told reporters Tuesday, without giving a definitive timeline about when he was looking to return.

“I don’t want to give someone a timetable because I don’t know. If I knew a specific date that I’d be back, I’d let you know. I don’t think it’s fair to anyone. I’ll be there when I leave.” I’ll be back when I’m ready,” Harper said.

“I don’t really feel the need to go anywhere, especially with appointments with doctors for the next two weeks,” he said. “If I didn’t have those appointments, I would be going down this road. After the break, I’ll be a little more open to going on the road and traveling and getting things done that I need.”
