Saskatoon Police Arrests In Two Vehicle Theft Cases | Globalnews.ca

Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) and the surrounding units worked together on the two stolen vehicle Incidents that resulted in arrests over the weekend.

The first incident occurred at around 9.30 pm on Saturday night when an SPS officer noticed a Dodge RAM 1500 accidentally driving near 20th and 1st lanes.

SPS Air Support tracked the vehicle as it was leaving Saskatoon to the east on Highway 16.

The RCMP was notified, and officers from Saskatoon, Lanigan, Humboldt and Waters gathered near Young, Sask, where the truck was reported.

The driver left the road, stuck the vehicle in a field and officers arrested the man.

It was later revealed that the truck was stolen from Rostern. The man was wanted on warrants from Shelbrook and Blaine Lake, and police said the 32-year-old Saskatoon man faces charges of police evasion, dangerous driving, driving when prohibited and having stolen property worth more than $5,000.

The second incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. Monday, when an SPS officer spotted a Dodge Nitro, which was reported to have been stolen at Prince Albert.

The driver refused to stop for police and ran a red light on 22nd Street and Idlewild Drive North.

SPS Air Support followed the vehicle, which headed out of town on Highway 11 toward Warman.

The Warman RCMP and Corman Park Police threw away tire deflation devices and disabled the car.

The driver, a 21-year-old Prince Albert woman, was taken into custody, and a search of the vehicle found bear spray, methamphetamine and psilocybin.

Police said she faces charges of dangerous driving, evading police, possessing a weapon dangerous to the public peace, possessing a concealed weapon, possessing stolen property worth more than $5,000, possessing methamphetamine and psilocybin.

Saskatoon Police Chief Troy Cooper said: “These incidents are an example of how serious and potentially dangerous conditions are not limited to the area within Saskatoon city limits.”

“As is often the case, a successful conclusion is a direct result of our extensive training, coordinated policing and valuable partnerships.”

“The safe and successful arrest of these fleeing suspects was the result of spontaneous teamwork between the Saskatoon RCMP, Lanigan RCMP, Humboldt RCMP, Waters RCMP, CTSS, SPS and SPS Air One throughout the entirety of these incidents,” Cooper said.
