SAI to shut training centers amid rise in Covid-19 cases

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) on Monday said that it has decided to shut down 67 of its training centers across the country. COVID-19 case

“In view of the rising cases of COVID-19, the Sports Authority of India has decided to close 67 SAI Training Centers across the country,” SAI said in a statement.

“The decision also comes in the wake of directions by various states to suspend sports activities for the safety of athletes,” he said.

The centers will be reopened after reviewing the situation in due course.

India on Monday recorded an increase of 1,79,723 Covid-19 cases.

The number of active cases has risen to 7,23,619, the highest in nearly 204 days, while the death toll has climbed to 4,83,936 with 146 deaths reported by the health ministry this morning.
