Rajkot: Schools, colleges closed due to heavy rains in the city

The city of Rajkot in Gujarat’s Saurashtra region has been receiving heavy rains since morning, forcing the authorities to close schools and colleges on Monday.

The city recorded over five inches of rain in the 24 hours that ended at 8 am on Monday. Heavy rain caused power outages and waterlogging in some areas.

Rajkot District Rain

The district recorded 472.7 mm of rain on Saturday. Rajkot city received 646 mm of rain, while Gondal and Lodhika talukas received a total of 776 mm of rain each.

The city recorded a minimum temperature of 23.7 degrees Celsius and a maximum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Gujarat is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next four days.
