Punjab government to consider reduction in fuel prices in cabinet meeting today: Manpreet Badal

Punjab Finance and Taxation Minister Manpreet Singh Badal on Friday said that the state government will take a decision on reduction in petrol and diesel prices in the next cabinet meeting to be held on Saturday (November 6).

Speaking to the media during a state-level function organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of Lord Vishwakarma in Ludhiana, Manpreet said that the state government is also willing to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel to give more relief to the people, but the cabinet meeting The final decision will be taken in the Central Government should have further reduced the excise duty, he said.

The minister further said that the state government has to take care of every sector including education, health, power, police and infrastructure development and it also runs many social welfare schemes for the people. He said that it was the central government which levies higher taxes on fuel than the states but “the Punjab government is very much on reducing the prices of petrol and diesel…”
Earlier presiding over the state level function, Manpreet said that Lord Vishwakarma was the god of crafts, architecture and engineering and the divine draftsman of the entire universe.

He announced to give one crore rupees for the renovation of Lord Vishwakarma temple in Ludhiana. Meanwhile, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Industries Minister Gurkeerat Singh Kotli also paid homage to Lord Vishwakarma and each announced Rs 10 lakh for the temple.
