Prabhas says ‘Radhe Shyam’ is a love story with many twists
Actor Prabhas says his upcoming film “Radhe Shyam” is a romantic saga with many interesting aspects and hopes the audience will enjoy watching the film when it releases next year. Multilingual romantic-drama starring Pooja Hegde, directed by Radha Krishna Kumar. Set in the 1970s, “Radhe Shyam” features Prabhas as Vikramaditya, who falls in love with Prerna, played by Hegde.
He said, “‘Radheshyam’ is a love story but it has (many other elements) too. The film has a lot of twists and turns and I hope you enjoy it. I think the climax will be a highlight,” he added. Prabhas said.
The ‘Baahubali’ star was speaking at the mega trailer launch event of the film held at Ramoji Film City here on Thursday night.
Prabhas also praised Kumar, who made his directorial debut with the 2015 hit “Jill”, for his passion and determination to “Radhe Shyam” despite many odds.
He said, ‘Working for five years in a film is no joke. Because the movie started and stopped, planning a movie again. It was after ‘Baahubali’, then started from the time of ‘Saaho’, then stopped due to COVID and started again. It will be very disappointing but he (back) fought,” said the 42-year-old star.
The director expressed his gratitude to the team for standing by his vision through thick and thin on his behalf. “I am thankful to everyone for standing by me for four years. I am grateful to Manoj sir (Paramhans – cinematographer) for being the reason we get excited every day,” Kumar said.
“Pooja, you were born to do this film. Prabhas, you are not a star, you are a superstar, you are a universe. You taught me a lot,” he said.
Like many other films, the shooting schedule of “Radhe Shyam” also got affected due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Prabhas said, “Producer, director, crew and all the technicians have put in a lot of effort to make this film in the time of COVID-19.”
Sharing similar sentiments, Hegde said that she admires Kumar for his passion and drive towards making “Radheshyam”.
“His passion inspired me a lot. I shot several films in between and came back but his passion was intact, it is easy to lose it but he is upbeat all the time.”
Hegde, 31, said the entire team has worked hard on the project. “This film has taken a long time to make, it has been four years and we have shed our blood, sweat and tears as a team. We hope you all will like it. “We are thankful to our enthusiastic producers and the entire cast and crew for their support in making this fantasy world a reality,” he added.
With “Radhe Shyam”, Hegde said that Prabhas has attempted to do a complete love story with the pure intention of presenting diverse content to his fans across the globe.
He said, after doing ‘Baahubali’ and so many action films and being able to choose such a film, he is trying to give his fans something new to watch. I hope you all will like this film. it’s very different. You will see a new Prabhas and Pooja,” the actor said at the event.
He also recalled that he gave his approval to “Radhe Shyam” soon after the Katha.
“It’s a beautiful fairy tale world,” Hegde said. Adding the film will create magic on screen.
The mega trailer launch event was also attended by directors Om Raut, Nag Ashwin and Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who is working with Prabhas in various films.
Raut, who directed the actor in “Adipurush”, wished him all the best for “Radhe Shyam” and said that the film is much more than a sci-fi romantic-drama.
“It is not a love story. It is everything. I am sure people will love it,” he said.
Prabhas’s ‘Project K’ director Ashwin said that he liked the trailer of the film.
“What works well for a romantic film are three things – the chemistry of the lead pair, the music and the release date. Prabhas and Pooja have amazing chemistry, the music of the film is really good and the next thing is the release date. Total Overall, the film looks very exciting,” he said.
Reddy said he is looking forward to working with Prabhas in a film titled ‘Spirit’.
“Radhe Shyam” also stars Bhagyashree, Murli Sharma, Sachin Khedekar, Priyadarshi, Sasha Chettri, Kunaal Roy Kapur and Sathyan.
The film is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series and produced by UV Creations, Bhushan Kumar, Vamsi and Pramod. It will release in cinemas across the world on January 14 on the occasion of Makar Sankranti and Pongal.
