Police watchman investigating a body found after an exchange of bullets linked to RCMP – Winnipeg | Globalnews.ca

The body was found in a house engulfed in flames on the evening of Friday 23 July in RM of Prairie Lake.

RCMP officials visited a property in the area to execute the search warrant. As soon as they arrived, a 38-year-old man was seen running inside his house.

Officials say he then grabbed a gun and started shooting at the officers. After firing between the two, the man locked himself in his house.

The RCMP called for back up and then said they saw smoke billowing out of the house. Soon the house caught fire.

The next morning, officials say they recovered a body from the house. RCMP says that post-mortem is being done to identify the body.

No officer was reported injured in the incident, and Manitoba’s Independent Investigations Unit is handling the investigation.
