Chatham-Kent, Ontario, police are investigating a fatal train collision that occurred Wednesday afternoon.

Shortly after 3 p.m., officers were notified of a collision between a CP cargo train and a pedestrian along the CP Railway on Princes Street North near Colborne Street.

An adult female pedestrian from Chatham was pronounced dead on the spot.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

“Members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service extend their deepest condolences to the family and friends of the women’s side,” a police media release said.

The investigation continues.
