ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has recorded another 95 deaths from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, according to the latest data released by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) on Tuesday morning.

According to NCOC data, 48,181 coronavirus tests were conducted across the country in the last 24 hours, of which 3,221 came back positive.

Meanwhile, 4,291 people recovered from the infection during the same period, while another 95 people died.

The country’s COVID-19 positivity rate now stands at 6.68%.

The NCOC data shows that the gross positive cases reached 1,105,300, with 993,304 recoveries and 24,573 deaths. However, the number of active cases fell slightly to 87,423.

According to a Reuters report, Pakistan is reporting an average of 4,351 new infections every day, which is 74% of the peak – the highest daily average reported on June 17.

Pakistan has so far given at least 42,688,545 doses of COVID-19 vaccines. Assuming that each person needs two doses, this is enough to vaccinate about 9.9% of the country’s population.

During the last week reported, Pakistan administered an average of about 849,679 doses per day. At that rate, it would take 51 days to deliver enough doses for the other 10% of the population.
