Pakistan in touch with Taliban, wants to see inclusive government in Afghanistan

Pakistan’s ambassador to Afghanistan Mansoor Ahmed Khan confirmed on Friday that Islamabad is in touch with the Afghan Taliban, adding that it wished for an inclusive government in the country.

Speaking to a Geo News correspondent in Kabul, Khan said, “We are in touch with the Taliban.”

“Our special envoys were in touch with him in Qatar, and Mullah Baradar and other Taliban leaders held talks with us there. We also spoke to the Afghan delegation, which was led by Abdullah Abdullah,” he said.

Khan said he was “in touch with both sides” but refrained from sharing the names of the people he was speaking to. He said Pakistan wants to see an inclusive government in Afghanistan so that it can move towards lasting peace in the region.

The Pakistani envoy said that whenever Islamabad previously held talks with Kabul, it had always told Afghanistan not to use its soil for terrorist groups like Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Daesh, Al Qaeda or ETIM. Do. Which threatens China.

Speaking about the diplomatic crisis in Afghanistan after the capture of the capital by the Taliban a few days ago, the ambassador said Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government has decided to facilitate the international community and Afghans at this critical juncture.

“We immediately evacuated the Pakistanis” [from Afghanistan] And did it in two ways: by special flights and by road,” he said.

He confirmed that the government has issued a total of 3,600 visas so far since the crisis began, adding that visas have also been issued to Afghans working with international organisations.
