One seriously injured in shooting at Washington state mall

One person was injured Friday in a shooting at a Tacoma, Washington, mall that later closed its doors for Black Friday shopping, officials said.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, a shooting was reported at the Tacoma Mall at 7:08 p.m.

Tacoma Police said one person was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Law enforcement came from “the entire county” to assist in the effort to locate the Sheriff’s Department, anyone connected to the shooting. tweeted,

No arrests were reported late Friday night.

Some shoppers had to take shelter in place as officers searched and investigated them, NBC affiliate King Seattle’s said.

Tacoma Mayor Victoria Woodards and Deputy Mayor Keith Blocker said in a joint statement that the shooting was treated as an isolated incident.

“We would like to acknowledge the magnitude of this incident that happened this evening and thank our first responders for their swift response to this scene,” he said in a written statement. “As we learn more, we stand with all those affected by this incident – we grow stronger together.”

The shooting at a mall in the US is at least the second on a busy Black Friday shopping day.
