One person was killed and three others were injured in a shooting inside a mall in El Paso, Texas, officials said Wednesday.
El Paso Interim Police Chief Peter Pacillas told reporters that two people were taken into custody in connection with the shooting at the Cielo Vista mall.
the mall is next to The Walmart where a gunman killed 23 people And 22 were injured in 2019.

Pacillas said an off-duty officer working security at the mall took the man, identified as a male, into custody three minutes after receiving a report of gunshots around 5 p.m.
A second person, also identified as male, was later taken into custody, he said.
Pacillas did not provide additional details about him or what charges he might face. A motive remains unclear.

Two of the injured were in critical condition, according to University Medical Center of El Paso spokesman Ryan Mielke.
Local officials said the local emergency management agency has set up a family reception center in the main gym of a local high school.
Representative Veronica Escobar, whose district includes El Paso, Twitter remembered the 2019 shooting and said that Wednesday’s shootings “brought back painful memories for many of us,” adding, “Please know that you are not alone.”
