North Gujarat districts: Second round of unseasonal rains in a week, says IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rain on January 5 and 6 in Gujarat, especially in the northern districts. This will be the second round of unseasonal rains in the state within a week.

Light rain is expected in the northern districts of Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Patan and Mehsana including Kutch on January 5. After this, there will be light to moderate rain in all the districts of the region including Saurashtra districts of Dwarka. The forecast is for Porbandar, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Morbi, Surendranagar and Kutch on January 6.

On December 27 and 28, unseasonal rains were reported from over 30 taluks, especially in the northern districts and Kutch regions of Gujarat.

The minimum temperature on Sunday was recorded at 10.1 degrees Celsius in Naliya and 13.5 degrees Celsius in Deesa. At other places, Bhuj recorded 13.6 degrees Celsius, Kandla airport 13.8 degrees Celsius and Kandla port and Rajkot recorded 14.9 degrees Celsius.
