Edmonton Police Officer Tristian Hoth has set a goal of becoming The most powerful man in the world.

Hoth spent the weekend in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, competing in several events for the coveted title. He is only the fourth person from Western Canada to compete in the competition.

“The experience has been amazing,” Hoth explains. “I was coming here and I didn’t know what to do, and it was more or less not what I expected to last.”

Hoth is not your average cop.

He is an impressive figure standing 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing over 300 pounds.

Edmonton Police Services (EPS) describes him as ‘the strongest policeman in Canada’. Hoth can bench press over 500 pounds and his best deadlift is 815 pounds.

Hoth joined EPS in 2018, when he entered his first competition.

“I love my job,” Hoth said. “I love helping and I love what I can do in the community.”

In 2021, he finished 5th in the Canada’s Strongest Man competition. Last year, he achieved the coveted position for the first time Magnus Ver Magnusson Strongman Classic In Iceland.

Since joining EPS, Hoth has volunteered countless hours at children’s sports and youth strength training activities. He had won the Strongman’s Champion League in Martinique just two weeks earlier.

Now he is competing for the world title.

I had less than two weeks to prepare,” Hoth laughed. “I got called and was told I was a reserve athlete and then 36 hours later – I was told I was competing, the World’s Best. “To make the finals in my freshman year in strongman has been absolutely amazing.”

Hoth is in the gym five to six days a week and credits his police family for being able to train so hard and compete.

“I really couldn’t ask for more, to be able to compete and call myself one of the top 10 strongest men in the world is incredible and overwhelming.”
