‘No country wants peace in Afghanistan more than Pakistan’: PM Imran to Afghan delegation

A delegation of political leaders from Afghanistan met Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday and discussed the current situation in the neighboring country after the Taliban takeover.

During the meeting today, the prime minister underscored the “importance of all parties working to secure an inclusive political solution”, according to a statement from his office.

They expressed strong support and solidarity for the brotherhood of Afghanistan, linked to the people of Pakistan through unchanging bonds of faith, history, geography, culture and kinship.

The premier stressed that no other country is more interested in peace and stability in Afghanistan than Pakistan.

He said that in the current situation, a greater responsibility now rests on Afghan leaders to “work together constructively to lead Afghanistan on the path of lasting peace, stability and development.”

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to a peaceful and stable Afghanistan, the Premier assured the delegation of Pakistan’s firm support for efforts in this regard.

The delegation thanked the Prime Minister and appreciated Pakistan’s support for the peace efforts.

He emphasized the multi-ethnic nature of Afghan society and the importance of an inclusive system.

The Afghan delegation also reiterated its desire to further strengthen the fraternal ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The Afghan delegation later met Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa to discuss the current regional situation.
