Chandigarh, February 18

The National Investigation Agency arrested decorated Himachal IPS officer Arvind Digvijay Negi in connection with its own investigation into Lashkar-e-Toiba’s “overground worker network”.

Negi, a gallantry award winner who was investigated for having leaked information to Khurram Parvez, a human rights activist booked under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), had recently asked to be repatriated from the NIA on personal grounds. He was since being investigated for espionage, extortion, and breach of the Official Secrets Act.

Six people were arrested before Negi in connection with the case registered on November 6, 2021.

Investigators searched Negi’s residences during its investigation, police said. Negi is a Superintendent of Police posted at Shimla.

Police claimed NIA found that Negi had leaked confidential files in connection with its own OWG investigations.
