Muslim group demands action on slogans raised during worship program

Members of the Muslim community, under the banner of ‘Gurgaon Muslim Council’, met the Deputy Commissioner on Monday and demanded action against those who raised “provocative” speeches and slogans during Govardhan Puja at the Namaz venue in Sector 12A on November 5.

At the puja organized by the Samyukta Hindu Sangharsh Samiti, which includes 22 local right-wing organizations and is publicly opposing Friday prayers, a senior VHP leader had said, “Those who want to offer prayers in public places, They can go to Pakistan”. participated in the worship BJP Leader Kapil Mishra and Haryana BJP spokesperson Suraj Pal Amu.

Former Rajya Sabha MP Mohammad Adeeb, who led the delegation, said, “In the place where prayers were not held on Friday, some outsiders made provocative speeches and sloganeering against Muslims and no action was taken.” This has hurt the sentiments of the society. Videos of sloganeering are coming out. We have requested the DC to take action against the culprits.”

The delegation submitted a memorandum of demands to the DC along with a list of suggestions on the issue of Friday prayers.

“We requested the administration to either allot or allow us land so that we can buy private land and build mosques…. We are offering Namaz only at designated places with the permission of the administration. We have also sought an appointment with the Chief Minister, who is likely to visit the city this week.

Altaf Ahmed, spokesperson of the Gurgaon Muslim Council, said, “… Until a long-term solution is found to get land for the construction of mosques, we requested the DC to ensure that efforts are made so that the Friday prayers are held without any interruption.” Let’s continue in the open spaces.

Deputy Commissioner Yash Garg did not respond to calls and messages seeking comment.
