Murder of ex-Afghan lawmaker highlights plight of women under Taliban

The murder of a former lawmaker in her home has shocked Afghans and drawn attention to the lack of security for women in the country. Taliban continues to impose tough restrictions on their rights, pushed them further out from public life.

Mursal NabizadaShe was one of the few female members of parliament who stayed in Kabul after she was shot dead in her home in the early hours of Sunday by “unknown, armed persons”, according to Kabul police. Taliban took control of the country in August 2021.
