Mumbai: Man who killed son arrested

Vashi Government Railway Police on Monday arrested a 28-year-old man for beating his four-year-old son to death on the platform of Sanpada railway station.

The accused has been identified as Sakalsinh Haridas Pawar. Police said he allegedly committed the crime over a fight with his second wife.

The family lives under the Sanpada flyover and earns a living by begging and wages.

According to the police, the incident happened around 9 am on Monday, when the family members had come to the Sanpada police station to beg. Police said the accused thrashed his son and slammed him to the ground, leading to his death.

“He told us that he committed the crime out of anger because he had a fight with this second wife. We have arrested the accused and an FIR has been registered on the basis of his brother’s complaint. A police officer said, we are probing if he has any past criminal record.
