Missing kayaker’s body retrieved from North Stonington Lake

NORTH STONNINGTON, CT (WFSB) – The carcass of a kayaker has been recovered from North Stonington Lake.

DEEP spokeswoman Meghan Byrd says officers were looking for a kayaker who went to Lake Vyasup around 10:30 pm on Saturday.

That person’s kayak was found unmanned on Sunday morning.

The Bard said the man’s body was found underwater this morning and pronounced dead at 11:40 a.m.

The chief medical examiner’s office will determine how the person died.

At this time, officials are only identifying Kaikar as a 45-year-old man.

The Wyassup Lake Boat Launch is expected to be closed for the day of Sunday.

Regional agencies, including the state police, assisted in the search.
