MDCAT Syllabus 2022: PMC revises subjects’ weightage

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) has revised the weightage of subjects with minor changes and removed the subject of gout from the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) syllabus 2022.

As per the details, the 12th meeting of PMDC, chaired by its Chairman Dr. Arshad Taqi, approved the weightage of subjects with minor changes on the recommendations of the National Academic Board of Medical and Dentistry regarding MDCAT syllabus.

The Board’s recommendations are based on input from the Provincial Higher Secondary Boards, while affirming that the MDCAT curriculum conforms to the National Curriculum 2006 as well as the Provincial Curriculum and is nothing more or less to be taken out of the curriculum.

As per the policy decision shared by PMC on its Twitter handle, the weightage of questions has been slightly revised in the subjects of MDCAT syllabus: Biology from 32% to 34%, Physics and Chemistry from 26.5% to 27%, English to 10 % to 9%, and Logical Reasoning from 5% to 3%. The exam will have 210 questions based on the above.

The meeting also approved the reduction of MDCAT pass mark for dental program from 65% to 55% for upcoming admissions in dental colleges of the country.
