Manchester Airport Terminal 2 reopens after suspicious package reports

Manchester Airport’s Terminal 2 has reopened after a police investigation found “no security threat” following reports of a suspicious package.

The terminal was closed and passengers were evacuated on Tuesday afternoon Greater Manchester The police laid siege to deal with the incident.

A spokesman for Manchester Airport said: “Following an investigation into a suspicious package reported in Terminal 2, Greater Manchester Police are satisfied that there is no security threat and have removed the cordon in place.

“We thank the passengers for their patience.”

The police sent a bomb disposal team to the airport as part of their investigation, and the spokesman said that the investigation was on.

In an earlier statement, the airport said police were “assessing reports of a suspicious package” at the terminal and that all flights were diverted to Terminal 1.

Police blocked all routes to the terminal as part of the evacuation.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said earlier today: “Police were called to Manchester Airport’s Terminal 2 at around 3.20 pm today with reports of a suspicious package.

“The terminal has been evacuated as per standard procedure and a cordon has been put in place as a safety precaution during an evaluation.”

A passenger told the Manchester Evening News that his sister and her family were pulled out of the airport and had to go to the other end of the terminal.

He said airport staff were “calm” and added that his family was moved to the gate area, away from shops and duty free.

The other airport terminals are located on the other side of the airport and continued to operate as usual during the incident.
