After getting relief from the Supreme Court, the Eknath Shinde camp is expecting another MLA to reach Guwahati.

Sources say that the rebels led by Shiv Sena leader Shinde expect Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to resign on his own.

Sources say that keeping in mind the legal technicalities involved, they do not want to take any step which can be legally challenged.

All eyes are now on Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari amid reports of the CM clearing the files in a “haste”.

The BJP has asked its MLAs to remain in Mumbai as political uncertainty in Maharashtra entered its eighth day on Tuesday.

The saffron party is yet to officially show interest in forming the government in the state, but it is holding several meetings.

Party leaders say that the core team will decide after the parties take steps in the government.

In a major relief to Shinde-led Shiv Sena MLAs, the Supreme Court on Monday adjourned the disqualification proceedings before the Maharashtra deputy speaker till July 12 raising questions on the validity of notices by rebels seeking their disqualification. sought response on the petitions.

The court also refused to pass any interim order on the Maharashtra government’s plea that there should be no floor test in the assembly, saying they can always be approached in case of illegality.

Thackeray has removed nine rebel ministers currently in Guwahati “to ensure smooth functioning”.

The Thackeray side now has four cabinet ministers – the CM, his sons Aaditya Thackeray, Anil Parab and Subhash Desai. Barring Aditya, the rest three are MLCs. Shinde’s portfolio has been given to Subhash Desai.

The rebels on Monday urged Thackeray to forge a new alliance with the BJP and not distance the party from Hindutva and its core ideology. The appeal was made by the rebel group’s spokesperson Deepak Kesarkar.
