Leading candidates urge voters to vote

Several party leaders called on the public to go to polling stations and vote in Germany’s parliamentary elections on Sunday.

Armin Lachett of the CDU told reporters: “We all think this is a very important federal election, an election that will determine the direction of Germany in the next few years, and that is why every vote counts. , and so I hope that everyone will exercise their right to go to the polls, so that the Democrats can finally elect a new government.”

The leader of the left-leaning SPD, Olaf Scholz, said he expected the Germans to give him a mandate to become the next chancellor.

“Now I hope that more and more citizens will go to the election and cast their vote and make possible what has become clear, namely a very strong outcome for the SPD. And that the citizens give me the mandate to become of Germany. The next Chancellor of the Federal Republic,” he said.

Meanwhile, Annalena Barbock, the chancellor candidate for the Green Party, also made some brief remarks after casting her vote in her hometown of Potsdam on Sunday afternoon.

He asked the people to cast their votes to usher in a new era and stressed on the importance of democracy.

“Every vote in this election will count, as we have seen over the past few weeks and how close it will be. Of course, we expect a few more votes to see the election results so that we can start a real new one. in the country,” she said.
