Kroger Lifts Guidance After Quarterly Sales Rise 9%

Kroger raised its guidance for the year after quarterly sales rose more than 9%, as demand for groceries holds steady even amid rising food prices.

The Cincinnati-based grocery-store operator said sales for the fiscal second quarter, which ended Aug. 13, came in at $34.64 billion, topping Wall Street estimates, according to FactSet. Excluding fuel, sales rose 5.2% from a year earlier.
