Karnataka doctor kills wife with high dose of injection

Nine months after a woman died in Karnataka’s Davangere district, her husband, a doctor by profession, has been arrested for smothering her with a high dose of injection under the influence of black magic, police said on Sunday. said.

Shilpa, wife of Dr Channakeshappa (45), a resident of Rameshwara village in Nyamati taluk, was suffering from low blood pressure. He had given her an overdose of dexamethasone injection after which Shilpa became very ill and died on the way to the hospital. The incident happened on February 11.

Shilpa’s parents had lodged a police complaint alleging disturbances. Though in the initial stages, the accused appeared to be innocent, preliminary investigation revealed that Channabasappa, though a wealthy landowner was an alcoholic, visited casinos and gambling centres.

According to the police, he also believed in black magic. Black magicians had advised him to make human sacrifices to get the treasure. Police said the accused decided to offer his wife as a human sacrifice and killed her by injecting an overdose.

The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report confirmed that his wife died due to the administration of an injection overdose. Later the police took the accused into custody. Charge sheet has also been filed against him.
