Kamshet: Youth, teenage cousin dies after being hit by open cable in heavy rain

A teenager and his cousin, in their early 20s, were struck by an electric wire while they were catching crabs on a pasture land near Kamshet in Pune district on Monday night during heavy rains in the area. Had gone.

The Pune Rural Police has identified the deceased as Avinash Bagad (16) and his cousin Ravindra Bagad (23), both residents of Shirde village in Maval taluka. Officials of Kamshet police station under Pune rural jurisdiction said a group of seven youths had gone to the area, about 60 km from Pune city, on Monday night.

Sub-Inspector Abhijit Pawar, who is probing the case, said, “A group of seven local youths had gone to catch crabs on a pasture in Uksan Pathar area on Monday night. It was raining heavily in the area. Two of them hit an electric wire on the ground, which was probably exposed due to heavy rains.” Police said they are investigating how the cable was busted and the youth got electrocuted.
