Indian Air Force receives 56,960 applications under Agneepath scheme

New Delhi, 26 June

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has received 56,960 applications under the Agneepath recruitment scheme till Sunday, within three days of the start of the registration process on Friday, a week after violent protests in several states against it.

The IAF on Sunday said on Twitter, “56960! The total number of applications received so far from the future Agnipath at https://agnipathvayu.cdac.in in response to the Agnipath recruitment application process. Registration will close on 5th July.”

Unveiling the Agneepath scheme on June 14, the government had said youth in the age group of 17-and-a-half to 21 years would be inducted for a four-year term, while 25 per cent of them would be inducted for regular service at a later stage. . ,

There were violent protests against the scheme in many parts of the country.

The government had on June 16 raised the upper age limit for recruitment under the scheme from 21 to 23 years for the year 2022, and later on their retirement in central paramilitary forces and defense public sector undertakings, such as the preference for them. Steps announced. ,

Several BJP-ruled states also declared ‘agnivars’, as soldiers would be known, to be given priority in joining state police forces.

The armed forces, however, have made it clear that violent protests and arsonists against the new recruitment scheme will not be included.
