New Delhi, 26 June
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday hailed the BJP’s victory in the Lok Sabha bypolls in Azamgarh and Rampur, saying it indicates widespread acceptance and support for “double engine” governments at the Center and in Uttar Pradesh. In both the places cited the party being in power.
In his tweet, Modi thanked the people of Tripura for reposing faith in the party’s development agenda and for voting its candidates, including Chief Minister Manik Saha, for victory in the assembly bypolls.
“Our government will continue to fulfill the aspirations of the people. I appreciate the hard work of my workers,” he said while praising the BJP workers of UP.

The BJP’s victories in Rampur and Azamgarh, considered difficult for the party, are significant as they were earlier held by Samajwadi Party veteran Azam Khan and its president Akhilesh Yadav, both of whom resigned after being elected to the state assembly.
