India arrests rights activist at the forefront of legal battle in 2002 Gujarat riots

New Delhi: An Indian activist known for her years of efforts to take legal action against the Prime Minister has been detained by the authorities. Narendra Modi over 2002 Hindu-Muslim riots in Gujarat When he was the Chief Minister of the state.

Anti-Terrorism Squad of Gujarat State Police detained Teesta Setalvad, 60, at his home in Mumbai in the neighboring Maharashtra state on Saturday afternoon. Soon after his arrest he was taken to Ahmedabad, near the capital of Gujarat.
