Due to heavy rains, roads were flooded, cars were submerged and commuters struggled to reach their destinations.

The joy of rain quickly turned into sadness for many Karachiites in the form of heavy monsoon rains ruined parts of the city on Thursday.

Within hours, main roads were flooded and cars were submerged as residents walked through the stagnant water with their motorcycles and belongings.

The first day of the latest mantra expected to last for three days brought back memories of last August record breaking rain, which nearly engulfed the metropolis for days and killed dozens of people.
