Environment Canada has issued multiple heat warning Temperatures are expected to rise into the mid-30s across Saskatchewan.

A heat warning has been issued for the following locations until 10 a.m. local time:

  • Lloydminster
  • saskatoon
  • Cree Lake – Key Lake
  • Ile la Crosse – Buffalo Narrows – Beauvalli
  • Kindersley – Rosetown – Bigger – Wilkie – McLean
  • La Loche – Clearwater River Pro. Park – Cliff Lake
  • Leader – Gul Lake
  • Martensville – Warman – Rostern – Delisle – Wakavo
  • Meadow Lake – Big River – Green Lake – Pearlsland
  • Moose Jaws – Pencil – Central Bute – Cranky
  • Outlook – Waters – Hanley – Imperial – Dinmore
  • Prince Albert – Shelbrook – Spiritwood – Duck Lake
  • Schoonavan – Maple Creek – Val Marie – Cypress Hills
  • Swift Current – Herbert – Kabri – Kyle – Lucky Lake
  • Battleford – Unity – Maidstone – St Waalburgh

Environment Canada says residents and visitors to areas should take frequent breaks from the heat and spend time in cool, indoor places when possible.

Individuals should stay hydrated with plenty of water and other non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated beverages to stay hydrated.

People and pets should not be left inside a closed vehicle for any length of time.

Individuals are also advised to monitor for signs of heat stroke and heat exhaustion, such as high body temperature, loss of sweat, confusion, fainting, and fainting.

Pay special attention to individuals who may experience pre- or more severe effects from heat, including infants, children, seniors, and individuals with pre-existing lung, heart, kidney, nervous system, mental health, or diabetes conditions, This includes outside workers, as well as individuals who are socially isolated.”

Extreme heat also poses greater risks for pregnant people, older adults, people with chronic illness, and people who work or exercise outside.
