Haryana: Unvaccinated teens aged 15 to 18 not allowed in schools

Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij on Friday said that unvaccinated adolescents in the age group of 15 to 18 years will not be allowed to enter schools when they reopen.

Schools are currently closed in the state in view of the huge spurt in coronavirus cases in the last fortnight.

The Minister issued the directions during a meeting with the officials to review the prevailing situation of COVID-19 in the State.

During the meeting, the Health Minister urged the parents of all 15 to 18 year olds to get their children vaccinated at the earliest, because when the schools open, the children who have not been vaccinated will not be allowed to enter the school. ,” said an official statement.

In Haryana, more than 15 lakh adolescents in the age group of 15 to 18 years are eligible for the COVID vaccine and immunization for this age group starting from January 3.

With a huge jump in the number of COVID cases in the state, Vij said two nodal officers would be appointed for each district, one in government hospitals and the other in private ones.

He said that these nodal officers would inform the state government about the arrangements available in the hospitals.
