Gurgaon: Shack, junk warehouse burnt down in midnight fire, no casualty reported

A fire broke out in Gurgaon’s Bajghera village late on Sunday night, destroying several shanties and a junk warehouse. Fire brigade officials said that at least 20 fire tenders have been pressed into service to douse the fire. Officials said no casualties were reported.

Fire brigade officials said that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Gulshan Kalra, deputy director (technical) of fire brigade said that a fire broke out at a scrap godown at around 12.40 am, following which fire tenders from all fire stations in Gurgaon were rushed to the spot.

The fire was brought under control after about 13 hours of effort. No injury or loss of life has been reported,” Kalra said.

A fire brigade official said that the scrap godown had plastic and rubber material, which spread the fire and then engulfed several shanties.
