Education department officials revealed that guest teachers will be appointed to fill 15,000 posts in government primary schools and around 4,000 vacancies — 1050 in government and 2900 in grant-in-aid schools — in secondary and higher secondary schools.

Briefing media persons after the weekly cabinet meeting of the state government, Education Minister Jitu Vaghani said, “The (regular) teachers were given additional teaching assignments. But to ensure that the teaching work is not affected, the State Government has sanctioned the (post) of guest teachers. We will give appointments to guest teachers and their tenure (maximum number) has also been fixed.

“They (incoming teachers) will be able to conduct a maximum of six periods in a day with a ceiling of Rs 27,000 per month (as remuneration). And a decision in that regard has been taken by the Education Department under the guidance of the Chief Minister (CM),” Vaghani said.

Vaghani also said that detailed discussions have been held with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Finance Minister Kanubhai Desai and the decision will be approved very soon later.

As per the 2015 Government Resolution, a primary, secondary and higher secondary government and grant-in-aid school can take the services of a guest teacher against the vacant seats till regular appointment or if the regular teacher avails leave for more than one month. can. , This means that the services of eligible persons from the local community or retired teachers can also be availed to fill the vacant seats.

According to the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board’s (GSHSEB) class 10 results in the last two years, the additional number of students in schools due to mass promotion is around 3-3.5 lakh students.
