Former NHL player Gino Odjick dead at age 52

east National Hockey League Player Gino Odjic died of a heart attack on Sunday at a Vancouver hospital where he was on his way to get leg bandages.

He was 52 years old.

In 2014, Odjic was diagnosis of an illness Which attacks the organs and the heart, which is called amyloidosis.

As of Monday morning, three of the four teams Odjic played for in the NHL had expressed condolences.

Odjic spent 12 years in the NHL, vancouver canucksIslanders, Philadelphia Flyers and Montreal Canadiens, between 1990 and 2002.

In the history of the Canucks organization, Odjic holds the record for minutes spent in the penalty box with 2,127 minutes.

During the 1996–97 campaign, Ojic led the league in penalty minutes with 371.

Canucks president and governor Francisco Aquilini said in a statement: “Gino was a fan-favorite from the moment he joined the organization, putting his heart and soul into every shift on and off the ice. He inspired people and embodied what it meant to be Cain. Personally, he was a close friend and confidant, someone I could lean on for advice and support. He will be greatly missed.”
