It was an experience that Christophe Lewis says scared him.

While briefly incarcerated at Millhaven Institution in 2012, he was involved in a brutal brawl with corrections staff. One of the correctional officers involved now faces a charge of assault with a weapon related to the beating in court.

It took just over 10 years to get his day in court. But according to his lawyer, Matthew Campbell-Williams, Lewis says he never gave up.

Campbell-Williams said, “He’s fighting for a lot of other people in prison and in prison for the people that this happens to, who don’t go to court and don’t speak up about their experience.”
