‘Forced exodus’ of Uighur Muslims from Xinjiang through job placement company, study shows – India Times Hindi News

New Delhi: A new study by the think tank Policy Research Group has exposed the forced exodus of Uighur Muslims from Xinjiang province to China, reported ANI. According to the study, this minority community of China is being forced to migrate to other parts of the country through China’s job placement company.

The report said that the company had issued an advertisement which claimed that two thousand. were over Uyghur workers are available for contract labor for a period of two years. The company further claimed that all the employees had professional degrees and were good at speaking Mandarin.

About 3000 workers were displaced from Kashgar in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region to other parts of the country.

The policy research group said these developments were in continuation of the ongoing conflict between the minority Uyghur group and Chinese officials. Last month, new evidence of Uighur community intimidation, torture and surveillance against China emerged from concentration camps in Xinjiang.

A man named Guanguan traveled to the far western region of China in 2019 and recorded a 20-minute video. He returned in 2020 after reading an article in BuzzFeed that indicated the location of some of the camps there. In his video, Guanguan said, “Due to Chinese government restrictions, foreign journalists can hardly reach Xinjiang for interviews.”

China has been criticized globally for its actions against Uighur Muslims. It has been reprimanded for interfering with the religious activities of its mass detention camps, sending members of the community for any form of forced re-education or preaching.

The United States earlier this year declared China’s actions against the Uighurs a genocide. The parliaments of Canada and the Netherlands also adopted resolutions recognizing the Uighur crisis as a ‘genocide’.

Recently, AFP news agency reported that US lawmakers are supporting the idea of a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics. The report said the move would help the US make a statement against the Uighur crisis, which the US has already termed as a genocide.
