Shaheed Farmers Memorial has been built in Sangrur in the memory of the farmers killed in the movement on the Delhi border. It was inaugurated on Wednesday by the Minister of Public Works, Punjab Government, Vijayendra Singla. The name of this monument has been named ‘Yadgaar-e-Shaheedan’.

The names of all the farmers of Sangrur district who were killed in the movement on the Delhi border are written on this memorial. Singla said that this is the first memorial in the memory of those who lost their lives in the movement across the country.

Punjabis led the entire movement
Inaugurating the memorial, Minister Singla said that people from all walks of life participated in the farmers’ movement. Along with farmers and laborers, shopkeepers also participated in the movement. This movement represents true Punjabiyat, where people connect with each other without any motive. Singla said that he is a Punjabi and he is proud that Punjabis have led the entire country. He mobilized everyone against the black laws being imposed on the central government.

CM has also talked about building a memorial
Earlier, Punjab CM Charanjit Channi has also talked about building a memorial in the memory of the farmers who lost their lives in the agitation in the state. He said that a memorial of farmers would be built at the behest of the United Kisan Morcha. However, the United Kisan Morcha has demanded a place from the Haryana government to remember the deceased farmers on the Delhi border itself.
