Kurukshetra, January 5

Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij today ordered the suspension of Shahabad SHO Prem Singh, Sub-Inspector Ramesh Kumar and Assistant Sub-Inspector Sudesh Kumar over alleged inaction on pending FIRs.

Vij was on a surprise visit to the police station when he issued the suspension orders. The minister checked the attendance register and inquired about pending FIRs. The action against the trio is learned to have been taken in a nearly year-old case in which no arrests were made. The officials failed to give a satisfactory reply for alleged laxity, said sources.

The minister found that several complaints had been lying pending for months, but no FIR was registered. He also said the policemen were allegedly trying to help accused in a few cases. “I have asked Kurukshetra SP Anshu Singla to clear all pending cases and submit a report in 15 days,” he said.

Some complainants also met Vij and raised their grievances. “Many complaints and investigations are pending. No action has been taken on 33 complaints lodged over six months back. Cops have to improve their functioning and ensure transparency,” he said.
